Learner Communications - Lir eLearning Hub:
Lir Business Services & Training Centre provides registered learners with communications and support facilities through the Lir eLearning Hub. These facilities include Private Chat, Course Enquiries, Tutor Support arrangements and the Lir AI Study Buddies for each course. Different facilities have different purposes and privacy arrangements. Learners are advised of these arrangements during Course Induction and through the information displayed on the Lir eLearning Hub.
Course Enquiries: Help Bell Icon:
The Course Enquiries facility is designed for individuals wishing to contact Lir Business Services and Training Centre about courses, enrolment, administration or other training-related matters. This facility is accessed through the Help Bell icon. Course Enquiries is not the Lir AI Study Buddy and is not a private AI conversation facility. This is highlighted on the webpage. Messages submitted through Course Enquiries are received by Lir and may be reviewed by authorised staff responsible for managing and responding to enquiries. Information submitted may include the sender's name, contact details, message content and relevant communication records. We use this information to:
- Respond to enquiries and requests for information.
- Provide course and administrative assistance.
- Address learner concerns and complaints.
- Maintain appropriate records of communications.
- Support the administration and delivery of our training services.
Access to these communications is restricted to authorised personnel who require the information for legitimate organisational purposes.
Private Chat and Tutor Communications:
Registered learners may communicate directly with their tutor or designated Lir Staff member through the Private Chat facility on the Lir eLearning Hub. However, they may be accessible to authorised Lir personnel responsible for learner support, course administration, quality assurance or resolving concerns. Private Chat should not be confused with the Lir AI Study Buddy.
Lir AI Study Buddy - AI Learning Support:
The Lir AI Study Buddy is an additional (optional) learning-support resource made available for each course to registered learners. It is designed to help learners understand course topics, revise material, explore concepts, and obtain general guidance relating to their studies. The Lir AI Study Buddy is accessed through a separate link on the Contact Bar at the top of the Learner's Course Curriculum page. The Lir AI Study Buddy operates separately from the Course Enquiries and Private Chat facilities. The Lir AI Study Buddy is provided through ChatGPT, a custom GPT service provided by OpenAI. When learners access the Lir AI Study Buddy they interact with ChatGPT using their own ChatGPT account and the privacy arrangements applicable to that service. Lir Business Services & Training Centre does not have access to, and cannot view, individual conversations that learners have with the Lir AI Study Buddy through their own ChatGPT accounts. This does not mean that conversations are inaccessible to the ChatGPT provider. Open AI processes the information in accordance with its own privacy arrangements, which may include storage, security monitoring and other processing activities. Learners should review OpenAI's Privacy Policy and applicable data controls before using the Lir AI Study Buddy. Learners should avoid entering unnecessary personal, financial or other sensitive information into AI conversations. The Lir AI Study Buddy is an optional learning support resource. It does not replace direct communication with a tutor, formal assessment feedback or Lir's complaints procedure. The Lir AI Study Buddy operates separately from Course Enquiries and Private Chat.
