Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of women in your community? Do you aspire to design personal development programmes that not only inspire but also empower women to realise their full potential?

We proudly introduce "LirPower" - a transformative initiative tailored to equip trainers, supervisors, and managers like you with the tools, knowledge, and certification needed to create impactful personal development workshops for women.


The purpose of this award is to equip you with the knowledge, skill and competence to identify training and development needs at an organisation and or individual level;  to devise a specific Programme for Personal Development Workshops, and finally, to explore the scope of training and development design to meet those needs.

"LirPower" is more than just a training programme; it's a movement towards empowering women through education, skill development, and community support. Our unique approach combines practical workshop design with theoretical underpinnings, all leading towards a prestigious QQI Level 6 certification in Training Needs Identification & Design (6N3325). This certification not only recognises your ability to create and implement effective training programmes but also positions you as a leader in community-based women's development.

Our programme is meticulously crafted to address the multifaceted aspects of women's personal development, ranging from leadership and financial literacy to health and well-being.

"LirPower" equips you with the expertise to identify the specific needs of women in your community, design workshops that speak to those needs, and deliver training that has a lasting impact.


At the end of this module, you will have a better understanding of the background and context of training and development and the external and internal factors influencing Training and Development within an organisation.  


You will explore the impact of organisational strategy, the purpose of training and development in an organisational and/or individual setting while outlining the benefits of an effective training needs analysis at an organisation and or individual level.  


You will also explore a range of approaches, stages and techniques to conduct a training needs analysis and design a training intervention, that incorporates a range of design factors to include trainees, adult learning theories, motivation theories, objectives, exercises, training methods, learning aids, location and facilities while developing  appropriate training content and materials using a range of learning aids to include web-based facilities, software, flipcharts and handouts. All in all, an exciting course.

  • Classroom-based, face-to-face 'Live Tutor instruction/in a classroom or on an online class environment.

  • Workplace learning.

  • Blended learning (hybrid model where a portion of learning is online classroom-based and a portion of which is online learning.   

  • Tutor support available between classes (online, face-to-face, or by telephone).

Entry requirements

QQI Level 5 Certificate, or equivalent life/work experience.  It is expected that you will have a range of learning styles, strengths and needs related to the programme and have the capacity to take responsibility for your own learning within the managed classroom and online environment, provided by Lir Business Services & Training Centre Ltd


Learners who have a Level 5 Certification and a computer skills qualification at Level 5 in Word Processing and Spreadsheets, and/or life/work experience at that level or higher. Learners will also require a good command of the English language and have a recognised English language qualification. However, some supports exist for Learners where English is not their first language.


In order to commence this programme, the learner must have either successfully completed a programme at a level 5 QQI Certificate/ equivalent qualifications. If the learner does not possess the required qualification they may also be eligible if they can demonstrate that they possess the levels of knowledge, skill and competence

associated with NFQ level 5. 


English Language:

The interview process ascertains existing levels of knowledge, skills and competence and English language proficiency. An assessment of English writing and comprehension to ensure equivalency with English language speaking and learning to assess a minimum standard level is given to test those learner’s English language levels, so that they are equipped with the correct standard of English to participate in the programme.  In order for the learner to have a realistic chance of achieving the standard of a level 6 award, it is expected that the learner would have:

  • Participated in relevant work experience

  • Participated in all the programmes related activities

  • Fluently read, draft, prepare and understand complex material which is relevant and reflects a broad personal knowledge

  • Fluently read, draft, prepare and understand complex quantitative data

  • Problem solving within a group or number of groups and independently

  • Be disciplined in self-directed learning in line with practical, preparation, study

  • and reflection time where appropriate

  • Learners must reside in Ireland.  

  • A competency test may be carried out for English language and literacy and/or computer skills to ensure that you have the skills necessary to complete the programme.  Learners will also need a good command of the English Language and have a recognised English Language qualification (for example):

  • The following English language proficiency tests and results are acceptable:

  • CEFR - Common European Framework for Languages (level B2 or higher).

  • QQI 5N1642 English as a Second Language (merit or distinction)

  • QQI 5N0690 Communications Level 5 (merit or distinction)

  • IELTS Indicator Test  -  International English Language Testing System - Academic The minimum score is 6 unless otherwise stated.

  • TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition  - Test of English as a Foreign Language  - internet based test (minimum score is 100 out of 120; Reading and Writing not less than 22;  Speaking with a score of not less than 24)

  • Duolingo English Test The minimum score required is 95 unless stated otherwise.

  • Leaving Certificate (H7/06 in English).

  • Exam English If you are unsure of your current level, you can take a free test on sites such as this one.

IT/Computer Skills: sufficient working knowlege of computers.  Learner must have access to a PC, laptop or mobile device with internet access, Windows 8 or later or a Mac with OSX 10.5 or later, a browser with the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Safari, Adobe Reader to view PDFs.  Your device must have a working camera and audio. PC must be capable of playing video and audio files. We provide you with access to Microsoft 365 Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams).


Blended Learning: Learners must be self-motivated and be able to take responsibility for their own self-directed learning, outside the 'Live' Tutor online classes as they complete their blended learning course.

Certification and Assessment

Following successful completion, you will receive a QQI Level 6 component certificate in Training Needs Identification and Design (6N3325) from QQI.


Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) is the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland.  Lir Business Services & Training Centre Ltd is registered with QQI, as a Private Training Provider,  to offer programmes leading to QQI  awards on the National Framework off Qualifications in Ireland (N.F.Q.) 


Learner Progression: Learners who successfully complete this module may use the associated credits towards a relevant Major Award.


Assessment: Assignment 40% (2) and Project 60%


Grading: Pass 50% - 64%, Merit 65% - 79%, Distinction 80% - 100%

Lir Terms and Conditions

Duration

A Blended and Online Course with 'Live' Tutor classes, optional Virtual Office Hours and Tutorials.  2 x Workshops over 5 weeks or 8 x Evening Classes plus self-directed learning with online support.


This Programme comprises of 1 module.  The duration of this module is typically 150 hours.  This is a combination of 50 hours of Directed Learning and 100 hours of Self-directed learning.  The 50 hours of Directed Learning takes place in Classroom Attendance and 'Live' Tutor Online Classes.  Self-directed Learning is learner-led, and it includes self-directed study, through Lir eLearning Hub.  This will entail preparation and reflection time on your part.  There are Virtual Office Hours throughout the week also to give you the opportunity of meeting your Tutor online, if you have any queries.

Progression

Upon successful completion of a Major award, learners can progress to an award on the next level on the NFQ.  Alternatively, the Higher Education Links Scheme (HELS) gives learners the opportunity to use their QQI Level 5/6 Major Award to apply through the CAO for a place in the first year of a higher education programme. In some instances, progression is on the basis of specific Level 5 or 6 Major Awards, Learners should check with the higher education institution prior to commencement. Components (Minor Awards), or achievement of less than 120 credits, will not suffice for progression under the HELS.
