When it comes to training and upskilling employees, have you ever thought about your Company CV? A friend of mine explained the purpose of a Company CV and how important and beneficial it can be. As an employer, you are probably providing training for your employees, but have you ever collated the qualifications, certification and accreditations which form an important part of a snapshot of your Company CV.
What would this entail? You could list your products and/or services, key accomplishments, and introduce your team. You could provide a summary that lists employees academic achievements, any certifications they hold, point out particular areas of expertise that exists in the company, and how this all benefits the company image, helps build the company reputation, and allows a quality service to be given to the client/customer.

So check with your HR person and see what you have. For example ... X number of employees with a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Business Administration (completed at times that suited, you the company and the employee), or X number of employees with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Business Executive Programme for Office Managers - both Major awards comprise of 8 modules and many of your employees may have some completed already, which is great, or maybe you are a company who is interested in upskilling your employees, not just for the workplace, but for their sense of place, importance/esteem, and value to the company. What about quoting in your Company CV that you have X number of employees with ECDL qualifications, X number of employees with Level 7/8 Degrees, a few Masters and, you never know, you may have an employee with a PhD. When you think of it, what does this say to your clients/customers and employees about your Company. How might this look when you are putting forward a Tender?
So when you start thinking about upskilling employees, its time to start thinking about developing a learning culture within your company. Contact a reputable training company that is passionate about training. A training company that genuinely enjoys seeing people achieve their best while working towards your company objectives. A company that is not running an operation whose sole emphasis is based on - 'pack them in, train them, and let them out.' You need specific, quality training and you need to see a return on your investment.
