This programme module aims to provide a Learner with in-depth knowledge, skills and competence to use a word processing application to produce complex documents within a range of specific contexts, working independently, and/or taking responsibility for or supervising the work of others.

  • To assess the Learner’s ability to use an increasingly sophisticated range of facilities available in up to date word processing software.

  • To prepare, process and produce a range of documents accurately, efficiently and with a professional presentation.

  • To acquire in-depth working knowledge and skills in advanced word processing, developing advanced document management techniques and developing good work practices in relation to the computer, printer and materials used.

  • Apply advanced text, paragraph, column and table formatting. Convert text to a table and vice versa.

  • Work with referencing features like footnotes, endnotes and captions. Create tables of contents, indexes and cross-references.

  • Enhance productivity by using fields, forms and templates.

  • Apply advanced mail merge techniques and work with automation features like macros.

  • Use linking and embedding features to integrate data.

  • Collaborate on and review documents. Work with master documents and subdocuments.

  • Apply document security features.

  • Work with watermarks, sections, and headers and footers in a document.
