This module aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of the role and function of a supervisory manager in a number of different business environments and industry sectors, ensuring that they can work effectively and independently in a supervisory capacity.

To have achieved equivalent to QQI Level 5 Certificate, or equivalent life/work experience.

At the end of this module, you will be able to explore and understand the role, duties and responsibilities of a supervisor/manager within a particular work environment.  We will facilitate you to understand and appreciate how organisations are managed and monitored by quality systems, clear policies and procedures, good planning, organisation and effective workplace practices.  

You will have the opportunity to explore the role of human resource management, including recruitment and selection planning, screening, monitoring and evaluation within an organisation in line with best employment practices.  

You will appreciate the importance of maintaining good work-related processes, including organisation and planning strategies, record keeping, workflow systems, operational management and supervisory procedures.  

You will understand the importance of the practicalities in any business to include department budgeting, operational records, insurance and understand how employee training development can impact not only the efficiency of the organisation but also enhance the motivation and performance of the employee through training and assessing individuals.  

All in all, you will learn how to use substantial personal autonomy and responsibility in your role as a Supervisor.
