Medical Terminology FETAC L21959 Level 5

Training Aim:

To enable the learner to gain an in-depth knowledge that is required to work effectively in a medical practice/medical clinic or as a medical reception/secretary in a hospital.

Objectives:

  • Develop a knowledge of the medical terminology used in different hospital specialities

  • Analyse medical reports
  • Become familiar with correct pronunciation and spelling of medical terms
  • Define medical abbreviations
     

Outline Training Plan:

The specific learning outcomes are grouped in 3 units.

Unit 1: Medical Terminology in different specialities
Unit 2: Understanding Medical Reports/Summaries
Unit 3: Pronunciation and Spellings

 
Training Duration:

 
30 hours approx (depending on Learner's prior knowledge/existing skills).

  • All assessment is devised by the Internal Assessor, with external modification by FETAC.

  • Grading: Pass 50- 64% Merit 65% - 79% Distinction 80-100%
