Training Aim:

To enable the Learner to gain the knowledge to perform a variety of mathematical operations and applications relevant to training and work situations.

Objectives:

Understand and use the language of mathematics

Carry out the principal mathematical operations accurately and confidently know which mathematical operations to apply to common work, domestic and social situations

Use a variety of instruments accurately, including measuring instruments and a basic electronic pocket calculator.

Outline Training Plan:

Units The Specific Learning Outcomes are grouped as nine units.
However, these may be delivered and assessed in an integrated manner.

Units 1 - 6 cover basic mathematical procedures carried out with natural numbers, decimal numbers, fractions and percentages, and include the use of basic mathematical operations in concrete situations such as shopping, managing money and carrying out different kinds of measurement.

These six units are mandatory.
Unit 1: Natural Numbers
Unit 2: Decimal Numbers
Unit 3: Ratios, Fractions and Percentages
Unit 4: The Calculator
Unit 5: Personal Finance
Unit 6: Measurement

Units 7, 8 and 9 are options. Learners must do one of these three units.
Unit: 7 Geometry
Unit 8: Statistics and Chance
Unit 9: Algebra

Training Duration:

20 - 30 hours approx (depending on Learner's prior knowledge/existing skills).

Upon request (discounted group and FÁS/CE participant)

Record System

Access Database, as approved by FETAC.

All results are recorded on our database and comply with the Data Protection Act 1988.Project and Examination.

Assessment & Certification:

All assessment is devised by the Internal Assessor, with external modification by FETAC.

Grading: Pass 50- 64% Merit 65% - 79% Distinction 80-100%
