Training Aim:

 
To enable the Learner to gain an in-depth understanding of the advertising element of the marketing communications mix and how advertising campaigns are planned, developed and assessed.

Objectives:

  • Understand the range of marketing techniques and the differences between them

  • Realise where advertising fits into the mix and where it becomes part of marketing strategy
  • Analyse product life cycles, their relationship to branding and positioning, and the influence of advertising
  • Understand the ways in which advertising campaigns are planned
  • Explain how clients and agencies interact, and the key departments in each
  • Identify the attributes necessary to succeed in the administrative and creative roles in an agency
  • Analyse media activity fully and understand the function of different types of market and media research

 
Outline Training Plan:

 
The specific learning outcomes are grouped in 6 units.

Unit 1: Introduction to Advertising
Unit 2: The Client/Agency Axis
Unit 3: Media
Unit 4: Creativity
Unit 5: Planning Advertising Campaigns
Unit 6: Research and Control

30 approx hours (depending on Learner's prior knowledge/existing skills).
